Weather forecasters are predicting a wet end to August and say it might not improve next month.
With more torrential rain and gales sweeping the country, in some places the average monthly rainfall has already been exceeded.
A band of heavy rain is now moving across the country with showers and thunderstorms breaking out in the south west.
September should see some better weather in the south with warmer than average temperatures for that time of year, but Met Office forecasters say we might not have seen the end of the storms.
Rain could be torrential in places with localised flash flooding in some areas.
Temperatures will remain around the 20C mark but could drop as low as 10C overnight.
The bad weather is being caused by low pressure and warm air carrying a great deal of moisture into the atmosphere.
Hurricanes on the western Atlantic have also been feeding into the weather systems affecting the UK.
