MOTORISTS using the A361 near to the Hopton Industrial Estate will face diversions as Wessex Water completes its work laying a new water main.

Northbound traffic will be diverted from the Hopton roundabout through the Hopton Industrial Estate.

The diversion will start on September 6 and last five weeks.

It is needed because workers from Wessex Water will be on the A361 connecting the new water main.

During part of the work the southbound carriageway of the A361 will be closed and traffic travelling from Marlborough and Swindon will be diverted on to the northbound carriageway via the right hand turning into the Hopton Industrial Estate by Macqueen vets.

During this stage a 40mph speed limit will be introduced along the A361 between the Horton Road roundabout and near to the junction of West End, Bishops Cannings.

A spokesman for Wiltshire County Council said: "There will be no temporary traffic lights in use so we don't anticipate major delays."
