13916/1A PARATROOPER escaped serious injury when his car was written off in an accident on the A361 near Caen Hill, Devizes at 7.22am on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old man from Devizes, who has not been named, was trapped in his Ford Escort for an hour while fire crews from Devizes and Melksham worked to release him.
Police said the man was travelling towards Seend on a right hand bend when the Escort left the road on the near side, drove up an embankment, rolled over and came to rest on the opposite carriageway.
The driver was taken to the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, with a broken collarbone.
l A Devizes man remains in a critical but stable condition after his Toyota Corolla left the road on the A361 London Road, Devizes, and collided with a tree at 1.05am on Sunday.
The collision happened on the northbound carriageway outside Ticknells and Sons just before the junction with Folly Road.
The man, who is in his thirties, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Great Western Hospital, Swindon.
