I USED the new Swindon council tip recently and was most disappointed to find it lacking in recycling facilities.
I had duly squashed my plastic bottles and beer cans for recycling. But when I asked where to put the bottles I was told in the general waste skip and when I asked where to deposit my beer cans again I was told in the skip for general metal. Surely a new tip would have a dedicated plastics bin and again one for cans. What's going on?
Better still would it not be beneficial to ask people to recycle at home? To separate tins from glass and plastic and again paper/cardboard etc. I collect my waste vegetables for use as garden fertiliser but feel I could do more with the right type of encouragement.
I live in Eldene and have noticed some households have black boxes I assume for separation of refuse, but alas my household seems to have missed the boat.
