May I, through your columns, remind those drivers who speed through the village of Sandy Lane of the hazards they are accepting by
disregarding the 30mph speed limit.
The A342 road through the village is gently sinuous and consequently the sight lines from the exits of many of the houses are limited.
In my case tests have shown that a vehicle which is out of sight when I drive out of my front gate may have to brake sharply to avoid a collision if it is travelling at more than about 40mph. Many are going a great deal faster than this.
Fortunately my car has side impact protection but I wish my camera could catch the indignant faces of malefactors brought up all standing as I drive out.
