RESIDENTS living on a notorious stretch of road on Westbury's boundary are urging highways bosses to speed up their efforts to slow traffic.
Wiltshire County Council has begun traffic calming work on The Ham, which separates Westbury from Heywood, but householders say it is far from finished.
The 30mph road is used as a cut through between Westbury, Yarnbrook and the West Wilts Trading Estate. Residents say their lives are being plagued by HGVs and boy racers, but the county council is acting to relieve this with measures such as road narrowing and zebra crossings.
Improvements to drainage and the road surface are also planned, but this and the remaining traffic measures cannot come too soon according to Heywood councillor and Ham resident Joyce Smith.
She said: "All the people that live on The Ham road would like to see things moving a little more quickly, but something is being done.
"We're most grateful for what has been done, but if there's any chance of speeding things up that would be great."
