28603LITTLE Jasmine Murphy had her presents stolen just days after celebrating her third birthday on a family holiday.

Thieves escaped with the trailer tent in which the gifts were being stored near Dilton Marsh early on Tuesday morning.

Mum Trina Murphy, 39, was in tears when she heard the news and is hoping somebody can help her trace the trailer she saved up for years to buy.

The family had been celebrating Jasmine's birthday in Sidmouth on Saturday with Miss Murphy's sister, Trudi Twinney, and her daughters, Alison, eight and April, six.

But what was a very happy occasion for the group of five, who are all from Westbury, has now been marred.

Miss Murphy said: "It was raining when we arrived back on Monday night so we left all the fairy lights, party stuff and presents in the trailer.

"I went to great lengths to hide it and thought it would be safe. But at 5.30am on Tuesday the neighbours heard a car driving away.

"A few tears were shed I can tell you, it was all my savings. I couldn't work today and I lost a day's pay for it.

"I can't afford a proper holiday so I saved up for something special for me and her. Fortunately we brought some of her birthday cards back in the car."

The family were this week trying to piece together exactly what had been stolen along with the trailer, which was left at stables belonging to grandfather Terence Murphy.

Jasmine's presents included a kite, pop-up book, a mug with her name on and a magical colouring book. The contents included a new American-style silver fridge, white daisy fairy lights and gas lamp.

Mrs Twinney, 36, said: "If Jasmine's not got her Eeyore cuddly toy that would be the most devastating thing, she has had it since she was born. The only thing we've got left is the plug from the sink.

"The police say they recover 80 per cent of stolen cars, but don't get much luck with trailer tents."

The Conway tent trailer, which is white with a dark brown plastic cover, was not insured.
