WHEELCHAIR users in Melksham will have to wait for dropped kerbs along their street, despite assurances from Wiltshire County Council the work would be done.

People living at Ruskin Avenue want the alterations done to make access easier for wheelchair users but the council now says there is no money in the pot to fund the work.

County councillor Angie Barker said: "This is not acceptable. The county council made a promise to me and local residents. The county council should honour their word and carry out the works."

A letter from the county council assistant director Tracy Carter to Cllr Barker stated that, despite assurances, the ramps requested have been placed on a waiting list with over 100 other sites.
