28584/9A CELEBRITY chef was on hand to inspire pupils at a Melksham summer school on Friday.
Peter Vaughan, of Channel 5's Dinner Doctors, was at the George Ward School showing pupils how to create souffl omelettes.
The visit was part of the school's two-week gifted and talented summer programme entitled What Triggers Change?
Following the session with Mr Vaughan, head of technology Margaret Bryant worked with students on the topic of bread and the changes there have been to it since the Second World War.
Pupils then put their recently gained knowledge to practical use making two different types of bread.
The gifted and talented summer school is the first to be held at George Ward.
The programme involves analysing changes in society since the war and changes within sports and health, the environment, technology and food.
The students have visited Bath University to look at changes in sports and health and have had the opportunity to use the new £29m sports training village.
They have interviewed veterans and evacuees from the local area and made a DVD documentary based on local experiences during the war.
Mrs Bryant said: "This opportunity will give the students the chance to build upon their current abilities and develop new key skills."
