PUPILS in Trowbridge and Westbury will be making the most of new buildings when they return to school next month.
A dual-use four-classroom block gives The John of Gaunt School, in Trowbridge, extra teaching space, which can be transformed into an exam hall accommodating 120 students.
Pupils at nearby Clarendon School are set to go one better with a five-classroom block featuring an eating area.
Work is due to be completed in the first week of September and both projects are part of Wiltshire County Council's programme to increase secondary school places in Trowbridge.
Matravers School in Westbury completes the line-up with a new sports hall and dining room.
The old dining hall will become staff facilities and office space and Wiltshire County Council is already planning further expansion to meet the increased demand for places.
The council's head of school buildings and places, Malcolm Dodds, said: "The county council is currently increasing the number of secondary school places in west Wiltshire to meet demand.
"The council is committed to improving the standard of school buildings across Wiltshire and ensuring the best possible environment for pupils and teachers."
