LET me start by being brutally honest. I rarely buy the Wiltshire Times these days. Too often, over the last year or so, the front page has reminded me of a bad tabloid newspaper; lurid headlines followed by articles that tell miserable news and contain cheap sensationalism and inadequate reporting.
The same goes for some of the inside pages.
I did enjoy an unusually cheerful front page report a number of months ago about a good deed done in Westbury by a local lad and his friends. More of that, please.
This week's edition had a piece on a 105-year-old-lady, detailing her early days in India, her education and life in Trowbridge, marriage and so on, including her nephew's comments on her independent and alert spirit.
All this gave a sense of cheer and positivity that I rarely find in the Wiltshire Times lately.
More of this clear and uplifting reporting, please and while not wishing to suggest you neuter the news or cover only the cheerful aspects of Wiltshire life, more good news headlines and leaders on your front pages, as well as within, would be extremely welcome. At least to this reader.
