This is not so much a "where are they now?" as a "where is it now?" question which I hope one of your readers may be able to answer for me.
Can anyone identify Belvedere Terrace, Lacock, for me?
My paternal grandfather, William Henry Cridland, married Maud Mary Selman of Lacock in 1907. They are buried together in the West Street cemetery at Lacock.
On their marriage certificate William Henry gave his address as 7 Belvedere Terrace, West Street, Lacock. The marriage certificate also shows Maud's father Thomas Selman living in West Street.
My guess is that William was lodging with or near the Selman family and married the daughter.
I have made several visits to Lacock and found West Street very easily but can find no trace of Belvedere Terrace. Can anyone tell me where it is or where it was in 1907?
I would also be delighted to hear from any of the Selman family left in the area. My grandmother Maud Selman died in 1915 aged 28. She had been married for eight years and left four young children but I know nothing else about her.
