Many of his students had received outstanding grades.

Rebecca McGeogh was one of them after achieving seven A*s and two As.

The 16-year-old, who lives in Copse Avenue, said: "I was really happy when I found out.

"I found the exams quite hard especially English."

Rebecca will be going to New College to do double maths, chemistry, physics and photography A levels.

David Jenkins, 16, of Old Walcot was also a high achiever with one A*, seven As and a C.

"I was predicted good grades but I got better than expected," he said."I am very very pleased."

He will also be going to New College to do A levels in English literature and language, maths and drama.

He added: "My teachers have really supported me, always pushing me so that I achieved higher standards." Fellow classmate Daniel French, 16, of Old Walcot, will be going to Cirencester College to do A-levels in English, politics, sociology and geography after achieving an A*, 3As, 4 Bs and a C.

He said: "Maths was a subject I was struggling with and I was really pleased to get a B and thrilled to get an A* in English."

Last year, 28 per cent of students received five or more grades at A to C while 80 per cent earned five or more GCSE passes.

Mr Flavin said: "Students who attend Churchfields and work hard can expect to attain the highest possible standards.

"There has been a significant increase in the number of parents who are entrusting Churchfields with their children's education

"The school is fully staffed with a complement of high quality teachers.
