SHRIVENHAM will be in a position to take promotion to the Hellenic Premier come May if manager Alan Dyton can guide them to the top spots in Division One West again.

The club finished fourth last season but were denied promotion because planning permission for floodlights a prerequisite in the top flight was not in place.

But an application has now been approved by the the Vale District Council and construction work will begin when the necessary money has been raised.

Shrivenham chairman Ian Richardson said: "We have planning permission.

"It's difficult to say when work can begin because we need to raise the funds.

"It probably won't be before Christmas but we would hope to have it completed by the end of the season.

"We have to carry out certain ground improvements ready for when we eventually get promotion.

"The other requirements are to have concrete hard standing round at least three sides of the pitch and to provide covered accommodation for a minimum 50 people.

"I anticipate the cost to be, very approximately, £50,000 for the floodlights, and £15,000 for the remaining work.

"All these things will be incorporated in an application to the Football Stadia Improvements Fund for Grant funding.

"We shall probably apply for the maximum grant of 90 per cent which will still leave us needing to find a stake of several thousand pounds."

While Richardson looks to rake some cash in, Dyton concentrates on maintaining the team's 100 per cent start to the season at Quarry Nomads tomorrow.

Key man Nathan Holt is on holiday and will miss the next three weeks. Doug Imrie (neck) and Rich Tilling (foot) are injured.

But Michael Silvanus, Liam Thompson, Andy Rainer, Steve Avenell, Russ Byrne and Neil Bridges are all back in contention.
