28597NEARLY half the average rainfall for August fell in the space of three days in Trowbridge as storms swept through the county.
Almost an inch of rain fell on Monday night in some of the heaviest storms to hit the county town this year.
A total of 24.8mm of rain fell on Monday night a third of the monthly average for August.
With 6.9mm of rain falling on Sunday and 4.2mm on Tuesday, it added up to a grand total of 35mm in just three days.
So far this month 89.8mm of rain has fallen on Trowbridge smashing the August average of 62mm.
The figure has some way to go before it reaches the level of August 1999 when 135mm of rain was recorded, and August 1997 when levels hit 133mm.
