MARK YEATES' impressive debut has left Andy King with a selection headache of thumping proportions as Town prepare to face Walsall at the Bescot Stadium today.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was only drafted in at the last minute after Sammy Igoe suffered an abductor strain in training on Friday.

Yeates played a full part in Saturday's 3-0 demolition of Hartlepool United but Igoe, whom King has likened to the Premiership loanee, is expected to be back challenging for a place today.

The manager admits it is a dilemma but one he will gladly wrestle with.

King, who saw his team rise to seventh in the League One table after Saturday's win over Neale Cooper's outfit, joked: "It will be a dilemma won't it?

"I'm hoping Igoe's not fit. I've kicked him in the tunnel to make sure he isn't.

"I don't give a damn in a way because it is a dilemma you sit and wait for.

"When you can flick a coin over Yeates and Igoe, that's the choices you want.

"The minute I knew Igoe wasn't available and bearing in mind what he brings to the team I felt Yeates was the ideal replacement."

Yeates himself is hoping for the nod at Walsall today and a chance to put right a 'deficiency' in his game.

He said: "Walsall will be a tough game.

"But I'm looking forward to it and hoping that the manager gives me another go.

"I didn't score when I was on loan at Brighton last season and so I'm looking to put that right here, hopefully starting with Walsall.

"I seem to have lost my goalscoring touch, apart from in internationals."

Yeates has only been at the County Ground five minutes but the Dubliner is already confident that his new teammates have what it takes to succeed.

He said: "I'd be disappointed if I was Andy King if they didn't get promoted this season."

The manager is not looking quite that far ahead.

But he is looking to his Town players to produce a string of quality results and performances.

Looking ahead to this afternoon's match at 17th-placed Walsall, King said: "It's another day, another game.

"All you can do is take a wonderful performance, enjoy it and build on the confidence that that must bring to your team.

"I've told the players that the win over Hartlepool is a standard-setting performance

"If they can play like that today, then I'll let Walsall worry about us.

"The test is consistency. We said that last year.

"The consistency makes for a great team."

Town, who travel to Walsall for the first time since a 1-0 defeat on New Year's Day 2001, will come face to face with summer transfer target Mark Kinsella.

Former County Ground goalkeeper Richard McKinney is likely to be on the Saddlers' bench.

Tuesday's scheduled reserve team match against Cardiff City at the County Ground has been postponed due to a number of international call-ups at Ninian Park.
