BEING a dog owner myself I have followed with interest the replies to the letter written by Dagmar Hermann Bannister (EA July 19).

I realise that people do have fears of certain breeds, especially if they were originally bred for fighting.

It was a shame that the person this lady met was so rude to her by asking her what her problem was.

He could have sensed her obvious fear and put his dog on its lead as requested and then introduced her to it, thus allaying her fears, instead of, by his ignorant and unnecessary behaviour, reinforcing her fears of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

What a shame.
