71969-136RODENTS were the stars of the show when 140 of them competed for top prizes.
The best guinea pigs in the county entered the Cavy Show at Lydiard Millicent parish Hall.
Organiser Margaret Hooper, who runs the Wiltshire Cavy Club, said: "We had some good quality pedigree guinea pigs from all over the south and we were pleased with the turnout.
"There was also a pets competition for children who arrived with chinchillas, hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits.
"The cavy show is mainly entered by adults I think we must all be big kids at heart."
Margaret, 49, of West Swindon has kept guinea pigs since she was a child, is a breeder and runs the Rodent Retreat, a hotel for the pets.
"I met someone who showed guinea pigs and then I got interested. I've been involved with breeding them for 26 years. I sell pedigrees for between £12 to £15 each."
The next cavy show will be held on October 23 from 10.30 until 3.30pm.
You must send in an entry form ten days before the show. Call Margaret on 01793 497916 for a form.
