RE: Why shouldn't we give our kids their skate park? N Sterling (EA, Letters) says that 16 to 24 year old males are more likely to be victims of attack than any other group.
Now I always thought that it was members of the general public that were more likely to be victims of attack from 16 to 24 year old males.
N Sterling then goes on to say that Highworth is a "vibrant bustling town" yet in the next sentence contradicts himself by quoting "Highworth is in danger of becoming a retirement haven". Which is it? It cannot be both.
No! N Sterling, the reason why there is no skate park in Highworth is because one is not needed. You cannot expect parks to be built for every fad that happens to be in vogue with the modern youth of the day.
What next? Yo yo parks, hula hoop parks, space hopper parks . . . or even Rubik's cube parks?
I would like to pose a suggestion. Why don't Highworth Town councillors liase with Swindon councillors to discuss the numerous problems with the skate park at the Oasis Leisure site.
There have been problems with loud music, drugs and disruption to the surrounding areas due to late night skating.
If parents in and around Highworth are still keen to encourage their children to skate, why do they not take their children to and from the skate park at the Oasis?
