Ref. 72514-26SOUTH Africans in Swindon looking for a few home comforts need look no further, thanks to a new store that has opened in the town centre.
South African Tales in the Market Hall in Market Street, stocks a wide range of South African foods, clothing and specialist barbeque parts, which are hard to find anywhere else.
Andrew Esmonde-White and his brother, John, opened the shop after arriving in Swindon from Durban five years ago.
Andrew said: "There are a few stores like this around the country but there seemed to be some demand for one in the area, and after a bit of research I decided to give it a go."
The store is also proving popular with English shoppers, who have developed a taste for the unusually flavoured pickles and jams on sale there.
"The youngberry, fig, tomato and mango jams, and the curry pickles are quite popular with the customers, and people seem to like the South African sweets and biscuits," said Andrew.
