CHIPPENHAM'S junior section proved an irresistable force at the weekend, the four age groups conceding no points at all.

They did however, score 268 as the under 14s led the way with an 84-0 mauling of Gloucester side Longlevens.

Using the match as a warm-up for a Combination Cup clash with Clifton this weekend, Chippenham led 43-0 at half-time and the spree continued after the interval.

Tries came from Stefan Crawley (3), Liam Baker, Ollie Harris, Luke Flower, Richard Thatcher (2), Tom Stanley and David Jones.

Tom Davies contributed two tries and five conversions with Flower adding two further conversions.

The under 16s opened their season with a 55-0 Bristol Combination Cup win over Whitehall

Tries came early in the first half with Pete Rawson, Chivers and Haines touching down.

Whitehead added another try in the corner, followed by further scores from Rawson (2), Chivers, Mike Mohan and Richard Smith. Lee Audis converted five times.

Not to be outdone, the under 13s thumped Dings Crusaders 74-0 in the Bristol Combination Cup.

On the scoresheet were Harry Smith, Matthew Burrows (3), Shane Mitchell, Louis Blackburn (2) Chris Rookley, Neil Jenkins, Jacob Emery, Kalum House.

Emery slotted four conversions with a further three from Smith.

In just four weeks, head coach and Chippenham club veteran Nick Burroughs and his coaching team have developed a strong group of 20 players that did themselves proud despite losing a series of games 4-0.

The under eights assembled three teams, James Gaunt scoring in the opening match, a 3-1 defeat.

However, Chippenham roared back with a 4-1 win in the next and the final game was tied 5-5.

At under nine level, Chippenham won one and lost two of their clashes at Stroud. After going down 20-5 in the opener, they won 15-10 but were edged 20-10 in the final clash.

The under 11s took a squad of 22, losing the opening match 14-7. Austin Strong scored on his debut, Luke Gorman converting and Chippenham also lost the second 12-0.

The under 12s field two sides, the Rhinos and Falcons, the former winning the opening encounter 30-5.

Debutantes Jordon Reece and Oliver Curry touched down, while Tom Stafford-Smith, Toby Levy and Charlie Wiseman also scored.

The Falcons were beaten 15-0.

The under 10s fared better, their Thrashers and Sharks teams both winning comfortably.

Daniel Vertessy ran in a hat-trick for the Sharks, Ryan Parry adding a couple and Tom Romaine and Robert Moore a try each in a 7-0 victory.

The Thrashers, playing with a mixed team, started badly, shipping three tries.

However, Tom Trotter took control, running in five tries of his own in the first half, leading to a 6-3 triumph.
