THE strength of the Swindon Sunday League was emphatically underlined at the weekend.
Representatives Green Baize and Greyhound sauntered into the second round of the FA Sunday Cup.
Baize beat Nottinghamshire outfit Standens Barn 4-0, despite playing almost the entire game with 10 men after Scott Laine was sent off for retaliation in the first minute.
All the goals arrived in the second half at Devizes' Nursteed Road, with Terry Moore opening the scoring and Stuart Bellinger doubling the tally.
A late brace from Mark Harper sealed a trip to Lewsey Social in the next round.
Greyhound crushed Somerset side Cutters Friday 9-0 in their tie at Rylands Way.
Paul Cooper hit five, with former Swindon striker Paul Hunt helping himself to a hat-trick and Danny Jordan also on target.
They will now host VS Villa in round two.
Chippenham & District League side Holt led Reading Irish 2-0 before suffering a 4-3 defeat to one of last year's quarter finalists.
Neil Grant scored all three goals for Holt.
The final of the competition will be played at Anfield at the end of the season.
