WH SMITH'S chief executive Kate Swann will unveil the company's half-year results this week.

The stationer, which has its head office in Greenbridge, is expected to post a fall in pre-tax profits to £67 million from £102 million last time.

Ms Swann is also expected to give an indication of her targets for the Christmas trading period.

The company has suffered a run of bad Christmases. Last year 270 people were made redundant in Swindon and London and a profits warning was issued.

The 39-year-old, who joined the company 11 months ago, is among the youngest bosses to lead a FTSE-listed retailer.
