I read in horror the reply to Mrs Johnston's letter from Mr and Mrs Hammond of Noah's Ark Nursery.

To be able to get so personal over a subject which is so controversial shows a complete lack of understanding of the situation from our point of view.

I have never been to the doctors' surgery in Marlborough Road to find 30 children there.

As for the hotel, which is situated well away from any home, it does not have hordes of children screaming at the top of their voices.

The old people's home at the bottom of Marlborough Road is a peaceful place that does not interfere with the lives of surrounding residents.

The home for people with mental health problems is also quiet.

We have enough trouble with the traffic trying to get on to Piper's roundabout without adding 30 more cars at busy times, looking for parking spaces and trying to get in and out of the estate.

What right have Mr and Mrs Hammond to tell Mrs Johnston to close her windows and doors to prevent the noise disturbing her?

Their comment about wearing ear muffs suggests that they are well aware of the intrusive nature of their business.

It will not just be Mrs Johnston who will be wearing ear muffs, it will be everyone who lives nearby.

I cannot believe the couple are so thick skinned they do not realise what they are setting out to do.
