A GROUP of 20 Tidworth soldiers have been put through their paces in a 24-hour endurance test to raise cash for kids.
Troops from the 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales Royal Regiment had to complete as many circuits as possible, using rowing, cycling and cross-training machines, at Tidworth leisure centre.
They also ran a mile round the sports centre perimeter as part of the test, managing to clock up more than 1,500km.
The soldiers have been left behind at the Tidworth base while 600 of their colleagues are on a six-month peacekeeping mission in Al Amarah, southern Iraq.
Despite having to cope with the sweltering heat, 80 of the soldiers based in Iraq also took part in the challenge, going head-to-head with the Tidworth team.
More than £800 was raised for Shipton Bellinger Pre-School and the Army Benevolent Fund.
