A SHOCKING TV drama highlighting the plight of East European sex slaves has been directed by a Swindon-trained filmmaker.
The first episode of Sex Traffic directed by David Yates, who learned his skills at Cre8 Studios is being screened on Channel 4 tomorrow.
John Simms stars as a charity worker who uncovers a trafficking operation whereby Eastern European women are kidnapped and sold in cities in Europe and America.
The storyline revolves around two young Moldovan sisters Elena and Vara who are sold into slavery and trafficked through Romania, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Italy before winding up in London.
David a freelance director is one of Cre8's big success stories.
After nurturing his talents at the Regent Circus studios, he went on to direct dramas including Anthony Trollope's The Way We Live Now, which scooped a BAFTA.
Other successes include Tim Mewton, who went on to work in Hollywood, and Stuart Hilliker, who worked on Chicken Run with Nick Park.
