With reference to Ian Dobie's letter (EA September 22) where he said the Conservatives on the council had no authority to change things until June of this year.
His cabinet decided in April which old people's homes were to close, that humps had to be removed in Covingham and Nythe and that the football club would not get the site they were promised.
What I found most insulting in his letter was the implication that Labour was a poor council for 25 years.
When the railway workshops finally closed in the eighties, who do you think brought all the Blue Chip, Japanese, American, European companies and Government agencies into the town to work for them and the top class hotels for the visitors to these hi tech companies?
