PEWSEY carnival queen attendant Josephine Connolly will be heading a group from a local school and pre school on a sponsored walk for Children in Need.
The annual televised appeal for children's charity, this year marks its 25th anniversary, will be on November 19.
Across the nation people will be taking part in fundraising activities.
Josephine, 18, has hit on the idea of a sponsored walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal from Pewsey to Hungerford.
People are already flocking to take part in the 16-mile walk that will take place the previous Saturday, November 13 and raise money for Children in Need.
Josephine said: "I wanted to do something for Children in Need and this seemed like a good idea."
She has been promised support from Pewsey Junior School with its head Matthew Nightingale taking part, and from the Puddleduck's pre-school whose manager Lesley Bradshaw is planning to walk with some of the staff and helpers.
Anyone wanting to sponsor one of the walkers can send their donations to Pewsey primary, the Puddleducks which meets at the Leisure Centre, also in Wilcot Road, or contact Josephine on 07769 576878.
