A FUNDRAISING concert due to take place tonight at Devizes Town Hall has been cancelled because only one ticket had been sold up to Monday.
Pam Chivers-Trevett, who wanted to help the Wiltshire Air Ambulance appeal after paramedics aided her following a serious road crash near Marlborough earlier this year, said she was disappointed she had had to pull the plug on the event, but has not been discouraged from trying again.
Professional fundraiser Ms Chivers-Trevett, who lives in the Devizes area, said: "The shame of it is that everyone rallied round. The mayor gave me use of the town hall, jazz singer Christina Jackson and her band were giving their services free and everyone has been so supportive. George Baker had agreed to compere the evening. I would like to thank all of them for their unstinting generosity.
"But when it comes down to it, you have to sell tickets and I just couldn't rely on people turning up at the door.
"The air ambulance is such a vital service but we take it for granted until we need it ourselves. We have to help find the £320,000 it takes to keep that service flying every year."
