DAUNTSEY'S School's veteran sailing yacht Jolie Brise left all the opposition standing in last weekend's Round the Island Race, a 50-mile race round the Isle of Wight.
Toby Marris, Dauntsey's head of sailing and skipper of the 74ft gaff-rigged pilot cutter, said winning the prestigious race was the equivalent of England playing Germany in the World Cup and winning 8-1.
Crewed by five boys and three girls, Jolie Brise set off at 7.30am on Saturday for the 50-mile race in the Solent. She crossed the line at 4.18pm with a lead of about 45 minutes.
