Around 35 Swindon singers will be brushing up their Shakespeare next week in the hilarious musical Kiss Me Kate.
Swindon Amateur Light Operatic Society is presenting the musical at the Wyvern Theatre from October 21 to 30. Based on the comedy, Taming of the Shrew, by William Shakespeare, Kiss Me Kate gives easy access to The Bard's famous language.
The musical is set in both 1950s America and Shakespeare's England which proves challenging for the actors, switching from the States-side drawl to the Bard's text.
Some of the most popular Cole Porter numbers sprinkle through the musical including Brush Up Your Shakespeare, Too Darn Hot and We Open in Venice.
SALOS are rising to the challenge after their successful run of Jesus Christ Superstar last year.
Tickets for Kiss Me Kate are from £8 on 01793 524481.
