THE council has again refused any removal of the trees along the river bank in Coopers Meadow. Only one member of the council, Coun Peggy Dow has visited the affected houses in Town Mill and she was astonished at the height and nearness of the trees as seen from this side.
The trees, mainly alders with eight poplars and two willows, are enormous with fairly shallow roots and growing in unstable soil.
Has the council considered that if a gale uproots any of these trees they, the council, could be held responsible for damage and possible loss of life?
The prevailing winds in Marlborough are south westerly!
