Wootton Bassett went down to their second league defeat, losing out 25-13 at fellow Wiltshire side Trowbridge.
Bassett's pack secured plenty of set-piece possession in the early exchanges, but they were never really allowed to convert this into a decent scoreline by a determined home side.
Trowbridge, in fact, took a 12-8 lead at the break courtesy of two tries and a conversion.
Bassett's first-half points came through a try from wing Ben Bailey and a penalty from full-back Lee Davies.
The second period was played much like the first and Trowbridge scored two more unconverted tries and a penalty before Bassett managed to cross the line again.
The visitors' second consolation score came in the 70th minute, prop Robin Smith touching down after an excellent driving run.
This late try sparked Wootton Bassett but their efforts were never going to be enough against a resolute home side, who held o n until the final whistle.
