ONE World Week is fast approaching. In fact it has already begun in Calne and I would like to draw your readers' attention to the programme of events arranged here and in Marlborough.
The theme this year is Your Move! There is an emphasis on Movements for Change, Movement of People Worldwide and Moves to Bring Peace, so there is plenty to think about.
A display in Calne Library from October 14 to 28 will illustrate the theme and will include work by local school students.
Primary school children who have taken part in Indian dance workshops this week will put on a display tomorrow at the Corn Exchange, Calne at 4.30pm and the schools have their own service for One World Week on Monday at Calne Baptist Church.
Services at Calne Methodist Church on Sunday and at St Mary's Calne on October 24 will also take up the One World theme.
Four evening events are planned. On Monday three speakers will deal with and lead discussion on the three Movement themes at the Friends Meeting House, Marlborough.
On Tuesday you can join in a debate on multiculturalism at St John's Upper School in Marlborough and on Wednesday at Marden House, Calne, teachers from the John Bentley School and St Edmund's School will tell us about their recent trips to India and the Gambia.
Finally, on October 23, Jubilate are giving us a concert, Harmony in Autumn, in St Mary's Church, Calne.
Fittingly the Calne Christian Aid Coffee Morning also falls within One World Week on October 22 at the Corn Exchange.
We hope that many readers will find something of interest in this programme and look forward to welcoming you to One World Week 2004 "Our chance to share our vision of One World as it might be, and our concern for the world as it is."
