CHIPPENHAM NEWS: A SURVIVOR of the terrorist bombings in Bali has been refused disability benefits as he tries to get his life back together.
This week is the second anniversary of the terror attacks on the Sari nightclub in Bali where Paul Lawrenson, from Cepen Park South Chippenham, lost his right arm.
The 39-year-old has since been back to Bali as a member of a UK support group and set up two websites offering useful information and links about the bombing.
Now he is campaigning for the government to help terror victims who are injured abroad to become entitled to disability benefits.
He said: "I'm always thinking about Bali. You cannot forget about a traumatic experience like that.
"I'm taking things steady. Last year it was all about getting my life back together.
"You can't allow it to change your life, otherwise the terrorists will win."
Now Mr Lawrenson is fighting for more help from the British Government to support terrorist victims and survivors.
Mr Lawrenson has been refused disability allowance because he had been working in China for six months before the attack.
The attacks on October 12, 2002 killed 202 tourists.
