28790/1JEANS for Genes Day struck a particular chord for children at Westbury Leigh School as they raised funds for a fellow pupil.
Youngsters and staff netted £300 for charity after everyone paid £1 to wear jeans for a day.
While half the money went to the national appeal, the remainder will help year four pupil Charlie Stubbs who suffers from the rare genetic disease Ataxia Telangiectasia.
Headteacher Mary Murray said wheelchair-bound Charlie is an active member of the school community.
She said: "Charlie joined us in reception in 2000. The children are wonderful at supporting him and he likes playing out in the playground."
