Murder victim Mick LoveWORKERS at a tyre factory in Melksham were left reeling after a colleague was arrested and charged with the murder of a postal worker in Swindon.
Colin Lewin, 34, is the third generation of his family to work at the Cooper-Avon Tyres factory in Bath Road, and his arrest has sent shockwaves among his colleagues.
Lewin was the third man to be arrested in connection with the stabbing of Mick Love a postal worker from Swindon who was found dead in the town's Cannon Street on September 27.
Lewin appeared at Swindon magistrates' court on Monday charged with murdering Mr Love between September 26 and 28.
He arrived at court surrounded by five police officers and made no comment before being remanded in custody until a preliminary hearing at Bristol Crown Court, scheduled for October 19.
Terry Fell, the Transport and General Workers Union representative at the factory, said: "He's the third generation of his family to work here, and also has uncles and brothers working here."
Mr Fell said despite spending two years at the firm Mr Lewin was not a well-known employee.
Bosses at the rubber factory declined to comment on Mr Lewin's arrest.
Tributes have been pouring in for Mr Love, whose body was found by an off-duty police officer in the early hours of September 27.
Officers carried out house-to-house inquiries at more than 400 homes in Swindon.
