I FEEL very strongly about the Stibbe court case as it was a travesty of justice.

How a man who causes an accident by driving dangerously resulting in the deaths of three people and injuring others, who then flees the scene of the crime and doesn't even come forward after a huge police campaign can be let off so lightly in the first place beggars belief.

Stibbe and the Army's arrogance coupled with the judge's lack of good judgement is just astonishing.

This man should have been dismissed from the Army, put in prison and his Army pension awarded to the victim's families.

How can it be fair that he was fined just £750 (a tiny proportion of the public costs of the case), promoted and awarded the OBE?

What kind of message does this send to other inconsiderate and dangerous drivers of which there are an increasing number?

I don't think the Colonel Stibbe OBE issue is so much to do with the actual accident, more to do with the fact that he ran away and hid surely a very cowardly action.
