TROWBRIDGE LEAGUE: SEEND United Reserves and CS Filos were left fuming as four players saw red in the return Division Two clash at The Lye.
It was the second time this season that a quartet of players have been dismissed in one game though Seend, who finished with only eight men, appear to have had only Paul Black and Mark James recorded as offenders.
Filos, who had Gerry Weeks dismissed earlier in the season, had Andy Davis red carded this time.
Chris Bishop gave Seend an interval lead only for Alex Walters, Jimmy White and Sam Tabiner to give Filos a 3-1 win, a winning double and joint top place with Blue Circle.
Seend's first team keeper Dave Hunt was also in trouble, a handling offence outside the area earning a dismissal at Bradford United. But it made little difference as Aaron Richardson added to a two-goal cushion already established by John Steel and Dave Castle before Mark Tyler notched a Bradford consolation.
Chris Gale was not a Saint either for North Bradley Saints but the defender's dismissal midway through the second half only served to produce a tremendous 3-2 victory after visitors Freshford were on course for a big shock when Dean Stritch doubled Ian Standing's opener before the break. Ten-man Saints hit back through Richard Bliha and Carl Davies before Scott Askew grabbed the winner.
Rudloe's Andy Sibbick, however, is claiming one of the quickest arrivals and departures on record in the top clash against Broughton Gifford.
Sibbick, who had seen both sides go close early on, replaced injured Jason King on the half hour. Eight minutes later the second of two challenges with Styles led to Sibbick throwing a punch and being sent off. Styles appeared lucky not to be cautioned.
Chris Styles followed up a hat-trick in the corresponding game last season with an 80th minute winning header from Ashley Groves' cross for Broughton.
Two teenage goalkeepers and a midfielder will also want to forget Saturday.
An early injury to Trowbridge United's Sean Bryant forced Ashley Chalk to deputise against Dynamo West End, the Division One leaders going ahead through Alex Shaftoe before Dynamo midfielder Steve Byfield, who broke his right elbow two years ago, sustained a broken left elbow. In a much delayed game Trowbridge, without injured ex-first team player Gordon Saunderson, grabbed a late point through Gareth Johnson.
The air ambulance attended the abandoned Division Three game at Christie Miller between FC Chippenham, who had relinquished ground advantage for a morning start, and Semington Magpies. Chippenham's makeshift keeper Stefan Klukowski collided with his own defender Richard Callaway in the 60th minute and was airlifted to hospital. He was later discharged from hospital.
Magpies, with three opening victories, had been stung by Jon Foreman and Lee Blackmore adding to Andy Churcher's 35 second strike. Simon Manifold should have increased Chippenham's lead further before Dan Rimmer headed Magpies back into the match. Joshua Mills reduced Magpies' deficit again before the unfortunate incident led to Rimmer levelling.
It was not all doom and gloom with The Lamb celebrating their first Division Two win in sensational fashion, scoring seven first half goals through Robin Walker (4), Pat Godfrey, Jamie Hartley and Mark Williams in a 7-2 thrashing of Castle Combe Reserves. Former manager Shawn House's decision to stay as player brought him the two Combe goals and a missed penalty, which Mark Bosworth saved. Kingsley Hampton completed the rout with the best goal of the game.
The top flight local derby between Heytesbury and Warminster Town Reserves ended in a 2-2 stalemate, Steve Bidgood equalising from a late first half penalty after Stuart Logan had put Town ahead. Stuart Carr reversed fortunes only for Logan to strike again.
Bradford United Reserves won the day's other derby, 3-1 over the Town Reserves to move into second place in Division Three on goal difference thanks to a double from Dan Cotterell and one from Mark Powell before Harry Hamlin netted a late consolation for Town.
A fifth goal of the campaign from Shaun Jefferies put Eagles ahead at Frome Town Sports A, who levelled through Andy Burns, but Dan Thompson clinched the visitors a third straight win. Rudloe were twice in front at Rowde Sports through Dave Wolfe only for Tim Knight (penalty) and Steve Cleverley to keep the Sands Lane outfit in touch at the top.
Leaders St Andrews edged a point clear after skipper Tom Baker added to Rob Little's first half goal to secure a 2-1 win over previously unbeaten Apetito, whose reply came from Brendon Leitch.
In the Division Two Cup, Football League assistant referee John Flynn was left impressed despite the surprise goal-less encounter between last season's finalist Hilperton United and bottom of the table FC Northbridge.
Leaders Blue Circle also received a first leg shock after Danny Cox and Alex Lutskes delivered strikes for Bratton before Shaun Sheppard hit a spectacular long range effort.
The Deverills are also a goal adrift against Westbury United A who responded to Mike Payne's second half penalty through Jamie Hibbs and Rob Taylor.
The only clear favourites to start tomorrow's second leg ties are Broughton Gifford Reserves, Dave King, Liam Richards, Dave Jenkins, Steve Lewin and a Neil Wilcox penalty creating a 5-2 margin over Steeple Ashton for whom Marc Sheppard and Carl Patrick reduced a four-goal Ashton deficit at one stage.
