TWO more west Wiltshire men have been arrested as part of a countywide operation targeting internet paedophiles.
A 32-year-old man was arrested at his Trowbridge home on Tuesday and a 38-year-old Bradford on Avon man was arrested the day before, both on suspicion of possessing, making and attempting to distribute indecent photos of children.
The two men were arrested as part of the national Operation Ore, known in Wiltshire as Operation Hussar, which targets child pornography.
Both men's computers were seized and they are on bail while officers in the hi-tech crime unit at Wiltshire Police's headquarters in Devizes examine the machines.
Up to 100 people across Wiltshire have already been arrested as part of the operation while more than 3,500 people have been arrested nationwide.
Det Sgt Pete Auburn said: "It is just the tip of the iceberg but it certainly sends out a message to people that if they do download computer pornography we have got every chance of catching them."
The arrests follow the guilty plea of Trowbridge trainspotter Anthony Gearing at Chippenham Magistrates' Court last month.
The 55-year-old father and grandfather, who lives in Berkeley Road, admitted he had distributed computer images of young girls involved in sexual acts to children at Westbury train station in December. Gearing will be sentenced at Swindon Crown Court.
The objectives of Operation Hussar are to protect children from abuse and reassure the public, as well as deal with offenders.
The first west Wiltshire man arrested under Operation Hussar, David Crichton, of Fell Road, Westbury, was jailed for 18 months in July after being found guilty of hoarding pornographic pictures of children on computer discs.
