28855/1A COMEDY featuring a 1960s general who transforms into a hippy will be performed in Bradford on Avon.
Halfway Up The Tree, written by Sir Peter Ustinov, who died in March, will be performed by the Bradfordians theatre group later this month.
The play focuses on the reaction of General Mallalieu Fitzbutress, played by Phil Courage, who returns from war to find his children have rebelled and his life as he knew it has been turned upside down.
Co-director Earl Nuttall promises that although the play is not well known, it is packed full of humour and will especially appeal to people who grew up in the 1960s.
Mr Nuttall said: "Instead of blowing his top he becomes a hippy and goes to live up a tree."
The Bradfordians' next effort will be the musical Annie, directed by Mr Courage. The theatre company won a regional Rosebowl award for its summer production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Halfway Up The Tree will be performed from October 27-30 at St Laurence School, Bradford on Avon.
