A MASSIVE 90 per cent of people think Wroughton Church was wrong to knock gravestones to the ground without first consulting the bereaved relatives.
In our telephone poll, which was open from noon on Wednesday until noon yesterday we asked you to phone and give us your opinion.
Bereaved families were angered and distressed when they discovered their loved ones' gravestones in Wroughton churchyard had been toppled for health and safety reasons.
They had thought it was the work of vandals when they first saw the churchyard.
But vicar, Canon Michael Johnson, has said he would rather upset people than injure them.
More than 25 gravestones were laid down by workmen who were instructed to look at loose ones.
Relatives must now pay to have the gravestones reinstated.
Just 10 per cent said they agreed with the church's actions.
