28866/1PUPILS at The Mead Primary School almost raised the roof when they built a 35ft pyramid in their school hall.
Woodpecker class teamed up to make the 3D structure with dowelling and elastic bands.
Two hours later the pyramid hit the ceiling.
The project, organised by Building Enterprises, was designed to help the youngsters visualise how buildings take shape.
The year five and six pupils began by making triangles as the pyramid started on the floor and was raised into place.
Class teacher Lisa O'Connor said: "Every single person participated in making the structure. It's better than multiplication and literacy.
"The exercise helped their teamwork and visualisation and also got them listening to others and respecting other people's opinions.
"We started it at 9am and it was built by 11.30am. We then deconstructed rather than destroyed it."
