28859A PRIMARY school in Trowbridge turned into a makeshift workshop as parents and children joined forces to build a buggy as part of a national learning initiative.
Parents of children at Keevil Primary went back to school on Tuesday to pit their creative skills against one another in the Buggy Build Challenge, part of Family Learning Week.
Parents and children were provided with a range of materials including bubblewrap, loo-roll, cardboard, rods and wheels, and asked to put together a vehicle to carry an egg safely down a ramp.
A teacher at the school, Jackie Chalk, said: "It encourages parents to become involved in their children's education rather than just watching them read.
"The fathers were quite competitive about it," she said.
The buggy competition will take place on November 19, with a number of prizes up for grabs, including best-dressed buggy, the buggy that travels the furthest and most innovative design.
