COOPER-AVON Tyres have been thrown out of the Powergen Junior Vase after an administration error saw them field an ineligible player.
The Wiltshire side were due to meet Swindon in the second round tomorrow but now have a blank weekend after the mix-up in their 45-5 first round win over Poole.
The problem arose when Simon Liversidge was brought on as a late replacement in the first round win for his CATs' debut.
The club thought they had signed him on in time but the forms had been filled out incorrectly and he should not have played.
CATs' coach Mark Simmons, said: "It is very unfortunate but we have held our hands up and admitted our mistake.
"We honestly thought he was eligible but we made an administration error.
"If we had cheated and put him down under someone else's name we would probably have got away with it."
"So it really was an honest mistake."
