CATs continued their impressive league form on Saturday with a hard fought win at Supermarine.
The result has moved them up to second in the Dorset and Wilts Division One and kept them in the hunt for the one automatic promotion slot at the end of the season.
Coach Mark Simmons was impressed with his team's performance.
He said: "We played very well.
"It was a must win game because Supermarine are one of the teams that will be up there come the end of the season.
"I have already said how weak the league is and that makes it more important to beat the better sides.
"We have proved our credentials and I think we will be up there along with Marine, Corsham and Westbury."
CATs started well on Saturday and took the lead after two minutes when centre David Dyke touched down following good work from prop Nathan Irving.
The hosts rallied with a converted penalty but CATs extended their lead with a well-worked try from fly half John Cox.
Supermarine pegged the visitors back when their number eight ran half the length of the pitch for a try.
After the break Rich Woolford kicked a penalty and Aaron Bailey scored a try after a tap line down at line-out five yards out.
Flanker Russell Holland burst over the line for CATs' final try and despite a penalty try for the hosts, following ill discipline from CATs' number eight, they were able to hang on to the win.
Melksham 2nds 10
Combe Down 2nds 30
COMBE Down proved too strong for a young Melksham side on Saturday.
CATs' try scorers were Rich Bailey and Ian Woolford, with back row forward Jason Mills impressive.
