ROBBERS put a rope around a man's neck and bound his hands in a knife-point attack.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident in which two men approached the victim while he was walking alone along a footpath at the back of Megabowl at Shaw Ridge. One of the men put a length of rope around his neck while the other produced a knife and robbed him before binding his hands with tape.

Detective Constable Graham McDonald, of Swindon police, said: "The males stole the victim's wallet and mobile phone before making off in the direction of the Link Centre ."

The men, one of who was black and the other white, were described as being aged in their late teens and wore dark-coloured, hooded tops. The robbery happened at about 11.40pm on Saturday.

Lynsey Hooper, assistant manager at Megabowl, said she would warn staff to be extra vigilant.

"It's an horrific thing to have happened," she said. "We tell our staff to be vigilant anyway and it is a written rule that staff shouldn't do anything outside at night by themselves, even if it is just putting the bins out."
