Swindon College Old Boys moved into the second round of the Dorset & Wilts Vase by dismissing Calne 22-10 at Anchor Road.
A dominant 25-minute spell at the end of the first half, when College scored three tries, left Calne shell-shocked.
To their credit though, a side consisting of eight second team players, with three more on the bench, stood firm to win the second half.
The brave home selection policy included Andy Horman at hooker, Dave Holmes at loosehead prop, second team skipper Paul Hulbert in the second row, Max Whiston on the blindside, Darren Penny at outside centre, Vince Treen on the right wing and Jon Martin at full-back.
But College started strongly and despite Calne winning an early scrum, the visitors produced the first of what was to be many dominating shoves on their opponents' set-piece.
However, it was the hosts on the scoreboard first as Andy Donegan booted a penalty after a College infringement.
Calne held on to the advantage until College earned a scrum 15 metres from Calne's line.
The inevitable surge from the pack came and No 8 John Godsell broke and exploited a big blindside to set up a superb score, converted by Mark Lee.
In a stunning period of play College crossed Calne's line twice more.
The second try was a wonderful solo effort from left winger Darren Johnston. On a set play, he came off his blindside wing took the ball on a sweetly-timed switch move and beat three men with his pace
College's third try was the best of the day.
Again the pack did the hard work and Godsell picked up and surged forward.
He was eventually brought down but a classy lay-off to Steve Offord brought the score.
Calne improved after the interval, but were still under intense pressure at the scrummage.
Donegan's kicking frequently bailed them out and Calne gradually forced their way back into it.
However, they were stung when Johnston completed his brace, exploiting an overlap from a turnover with his pace.
The game became somewhat niggly, Hulbert needing to leave the field with a nasty head wound after an apparent stamping incident.
But a crunching tackle from John Hope-Smith created a turnover ball and wing Mike Burden crossed for Calne's consolation score, Donegan converting.
