Swindon roared into the third round of the Powergen Junior Vase as they rattled up a century of points at hapless Poole.

Having seen original opponents Cooper Avon thrown out of the tournament for fielding an inelligible player in the previous round, the journey down to the south coast didn't seem to faze the Greenbridge Road club, who ran in 17 tries in total.

Neil Maycock added 10 conversions to go with a hat-trick of tries for a personal points tally of 35.

Swindon started brightly and opened the scoring after five minutes through wing Robin Haxton, who also got his second minutes later.

With the home side proving to be to be no real opposition, Swindon dominated all phases of play in the first half with the pressure converted to points at regular intervals.

Maycock got his first of the afternoon and fellow backs Paul Wakefield and Connal Knott also crossed the line.

The dominant pack also got in on the act with hooker Scott Chapman scoring.

Both flankers, Ian Butcher and Paul Daniels, got on the scoresheet which capped excellent performances from the pair.

Prop Nick Brooks celebrated his return to the side after a three-week absence with a try, shaking off a couple defenders and sprinting 30 metres to the line for the touchdown.

With the half-time score at 59-0 and the game well won, Swindon were keen to keep up the pressure for the full 80 minutes.

Coach John Brown used all his substitutes just after the break. Youth players Danny Way and Scott Buchanan came into the back row and centre respectively and both were instrumental in several tries.

The story of the half however, was a hat-trick of tries for 17-year-old wing Ben Pailor, playing only his second game for the first team.

He went close several times in the first half but converted in style in the second.

His first came after the ball was shipped through the hands before Poole ran out of defenders and he crossed unopposed.

The second and third were classic winger's tries and almost identical.

The ball was moved forward by the pack before being released to the backs and centre Guy Sturla put in a 20 metre-pass to pick out Pailor wide out, who used his pace to score.

Maycock scored twice more to complete his hat-trick and Knott crossed for his second of the game, before Sturla himself scored a brace, with his second being the final score to being up the ton.

Elsewhere, Marlborough picked up a surprise 11-5 triumph over Supermarine, Adam Whatley crossing for a late try and Junior Muirhead kicking two penalties for the victors.

In the Intermediate Cup, Devizes' interest ended as they lost 27-7 at Henley Wanderers.
