Wootton Bassett Town continued their poor run of form as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to lowly Milton United in a disappointing Hellenic Premier encounter.
Bassett had the better of their opponents early on but Milton had the first shot of the game as Andy Chilvers hit over from 20 yards on three minutes.
Pete Yeardley's men had a great chance go begging thanks to some good Milton defending eight minutes later as Dave Tyler connected with a Matt Bennett corner with a glancing head but the shot was headed away off the line.
On 14 minutes, Steve Bunting had a half chance as he struck wide from thirty yards as both sides scrapped it out in unconventional conditions.
A 25-yard effort from Ben Gascoyne was saved 13 minutes before half-time and Stu Hemsley did no better a minute later after Andy Youngsam squared the ball to him, Hemsley had his shot well saved by Gareth Walker.
Bennett struck wide from 18 yards in the 36th minute after Youngsam laid the ball off to him.
Ten minutes later, Walker easily held a free-kick from Bennett as Bassett continued in failing to put away good chances.
Two minutes after the restart, Craig Antcliffe struck well wide from 20 yards after good build up from Chilvers and Patrick Malone.
Stu Hemsley was then booked for persistent fouling in the 48th minute.
On 50 minutes, Rob Powell had a one-on-one chance with Chris Mills go begging as Mills tipped away a poor shot.
Hemsley hit wide for Bassett in the 64th minute after receiving a Bunting ball before Milton were given another good chance but wasted it.
Bassett gave away a free-kick and Milton quickly countered with Chilvers leading the way and he slotted substitute John Pearce in behind the Bassett defence but Pearce's shot went wide. In the 71st minute, Bassett made a double change bringing Mick Byrne and Tom Messenger on in place of Hemsley and Youngsam.
Byrne came close four minutes after his introduction as he latched onto a deep ball from Paul Patel but his attempt from 20 yards was well held by Walker.
On 73 minutes, Tyler rose above the Milton defence but his header went wide before Garry Hartley did well to muster a shot after taking it round two at the other end but Mills held onto the ball.
Moses Greene replaced Bunting 14 minutes from time but didn't have the desired effect as the away side nearly stole the game six minutes from the end as Paul Patel bundled a Chilvers shot from the edge of the area off the line as Bassett failed to clear from a Malone corner.
n Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Highworth moved up to fifth following a 1-0 win at Almondsbury. Wayne Cleverley scored the only goal of the game in the first minute, but JP Mills was sent off along with the home side's Paul Dempsey.
Fairford were 2-0 winners at Pewsey Vale. Phil Corcoran opened the scoring in the seventh minute and John Devoille doubled the lead with a chip seven minutes into the second half.
In Division One West, Shrivenham's title hopes took a knock after a 4-2 reverse at Headington. Alex Green and Russ Byrne netted in the defeat.
Purton were crushed 6-0 at high-flying Trowbridge and Cirencester United lost 2-0 at Middle Barton.
Malmesbury Vics were also beaten, 4-1 at Hook Norton, Dan Lardner scored the consolation goal from the penalty spot.
